About Battle Buddies of Nevada 501 3(c)
Founded in 2020, Battle Buddies is the creation of Jay Powell a US Army Veteran who saw a need for better support and resources for the Las Vegas Veteran community. Our organization is committed to providing assistance to veterans in need, whether it's help connecting with mental health resources, soldiers and families impacted by substance use, finding a job, or accessing affordable housing. We believe that every veteran deserves access to the care and support they need to thrive after serving our country. We believe Veterans do not need to be fixed—they need stability, structure, understanding, and purpose.
Integrated Recovery & Mental Health Services
We provide Veteran-specific support for substance use disorders and relapse vulnerability often intertwined with PTSD, severe depression, anxiety, and trauma-related conditions.
Our services address both behavioral patterns and underlying psychological drivers, ensuring coordinated, comprehensive care.
Services focus on:
- Reducing relapse risk
- Treating co-occurring mental health conditions
- Strengthening coping skills and resilience
- Supporting sustainable recovery
Veteran Crisis Housing & Stabilization
Housing is foundational to recovery. We help Veterans access crisis housing pathways and stabilization resources that support long-term independence and safety.

Battle Buddies - "We Got Your 6"
I created Battle Buddies of Nevada because I know personally that coming home doesn’t always mean the mission is over. I was homeless upon my return home from the Middle East.
After serving three tours worldwide and leading soldiers through environments that demanded strength, discipline, and resilience, I witnessed how many Veterans return home carrying invisible wounds—trauma, anxiety, depression, substance use struggles, and housing instability.
Battle Buddies of Nevada was created to ensure Veterans are not left to navigate recovery and the world alone.
Instead of handout we give them respect and dignity. Every Veteran we serve is someone’s family, and that makes them a Battle Buddy.
